The Australian squad is balanced, giving rest to many important players and calling back some very good players. Overall we will see a very good fight between the teams.
Batters
1. Steve Smith (Captain) |
2. Travis Head |
3. Marnus Labuschagne |
4. Usman Khawaja |
5. Sam Konstas |
6. Alex Carey (WK) |
7. N McSweeney |
8. Josh Inglis |
Batters are the same as we have seen in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. There are no changes in the Batting department in the Australia Squad.
Both Openers Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja are available and a backup opener in the option of N McSweeney is also available.
N McSweeney played in the Border Gavaskar Trophy as well but was dropped because of his regular poor performance in the first 3 test matches.
Marnus Labuschagne is too available for the series against Srilanka batting One Down. Afterwards, Captain Steve Smith will be going to bat 2 down.
To strengthen the middle order the hard hitter batter Travis Head is included in the Squad by the Australian side as well.
Australia has the option of Josh Inglis as well.
All Rounders
1. Sean Abbott |
2. B Webster |
3. C Conolly |
Mitchell Marsh is dropped because of his poor recent form and Webster has been added to the squad and performed tremendously in the 5th Test against India at Sydney.
His performance with bat and bowl was very impressive as he scored a half-century as well in his debut match against India in the very crucial test match.
S Abbott, a bowling all-rounder is also selected by the Australia side for the test series against Srilanka.
Bowlers
1. Nathan Lyon |
2. Scott Boland |
3. T Murphy |
4. M Kuhnemann |
5. M Starc |
Pat Cummins has been tested for the Sri Lanka series by the Australian Side. He will further go on some ankle tests to divert any injury.
M Starc and S Boland will lead the pace bowling lineup for Australia in the test series against Sri Lanka.
Both of them were a big headache for the Indian Players at the Border Gavaskar Trophy and Australia is taking them for the Srilanka series as well.
3 spinners are included in the Australia Squad because of the conditions in Sri Lanka.
There will be spin-friendly conditions for sure because of which they are included.
The same 3 spinners were in the Australian squad when they came to India to play the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Nathan Lyon, T Murphy, M Kuhnemann are the 3 very good options in the spin department that Australian cricket team has in their country which will lead the spin attack of the Australian team.
